XENOMARINE is a free role-playing title made by developer Fourfold Games. This turn-based strategy game features a dark sci-fi horror theme with roguelike gameplay elements. In it, players take on the role of a space marine exploring an alien-infested space station through randomly-generated areas and enemy encounters.

XENOMARINE mixes the styling and themes of XCOM: Chimera Squad with the gameplay of classic strategy titles like Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Its top-down gameplay perspective and its pixel art style graphics together with its atmospheric presentation make it stand out. However, this is still a demo version of the game.

What is it all about?

XENOMARINE is essentially a survival horror adventure set in space. It is played in a top-down perspective and features turn-based strategy mechanics for its core gameplay. You play as a space marine exploring an alien-infested space station. Armed with nothing but a crowbar, you will have to survive against over 140 different species as you make your way out of your deadly and horrific predicament.

Similar to its randomly-generated areas, progressing through the game is open and will depend on you and your choices. There are over 70 skills to unlock and experiment with as you build and customize your character in every playthrough. On top of that, you will discover and be able to equip various weapons, armor, and items that will help in keeping you alive in your encounters.

Being a game that incorporates roguelike elements in its gameplay, it is expectedly quite hard, so much so that some new players might find it having a high difficulty curve at the start. Also, do note that this is just a demo version of a full game that is still in active development. As such, expect more changes and fixes to arrive with future updates.
